Why is physical activity important?

Physical activity and even just regular movement are essential for good health and maintaining a healthy weight. Physical movement and activity increase blood flow, strengthen bones and muscles, and can even lead to improvements with mood, digestion, and sleep. There is ample scientific evidence that regular physical activity reduces the risk for chronic disease and enhances longevity. Now, we're not saying you need to go out and run a marathon; in fact, you may already be moving more than you think!
