The Heimerdinger Foundation is a local, Nashville non-profit that provides healthy, nutritious meals to people undergoing cancer treatment and their caregivers through their Meals for Health and Healing program. The Foundation was started by Kathie Heimerdinger after her husband, former Tennessee Titans Offensive Coordinator Mike Heimerdinger, passed away in 2011. Kathie understood how important nutrition is during cancer treatment, but she also saw how challenging it was to keep up good nutrition during this difficult time in their lives. The Heimerdinger Foundation believes in the "food is medicine" philosophy, and with their volunteers, they work to relieve the burden of cooking and meal planning for cancer patients and their caregivers by preparing healthy meals and delivering direcly to the patient's homes. These meals are balanced, plant-forward, and full of immune-boosting ingredients that help fight against disease.

The Heimerdinger Foundation has a great volunteer program for both adults and teens, but there are many ways to connect and support the foundation. They offer quarterly community classes on topics such as gardening, medicinal herbs, and cooking techniques. You can find them at the Bellevue Farmers Market selling their special spice blends, full of those same ingredients with immune-boosting properties. And during the summer they host events such as farm dinners and front porch dinners made by local chefs using local, seasonal ingredients.
